Join Rachel Downs for an immersive 5-day mural painting class where she shares everything she’s learned over 20+ years in the field. With experience creating more than 150 custom backdrops and 80 murals, Rachel will guide you through the entire process—from initial concept to finished piece.
In this hands-on class, you’ll explore design, layout, and color mixing, while learning which paints and tools work best for mural projects. Rachel will also share practical tips and techniques to help you create stunning, efficient, and impactful artwork.
Participants will collaborate on two or three mural sections featuring a variety of styles, with plenty of time for questions along the way. Each student will leave with a piece of the class mural—plus the skills and confidence to start their own mural projects. Let’s get painting!
All materials will be provided for the class. However, you’re welcome to bring your own large brush, notebook, and rags if you prefer to use your personal supplies.
About Rachel:
Rachel Downs has been a full-time freelance artist since 2005, with a lifelong passion for working in paint. Over the past 20 years, she and her talented team have created custom finishes on nearly every type of surface imaginable, along with more than 120 backdrops and 80+ murals throughout the area.
In addition to her professional work, Rachel has led countless workshops across the country, teaching scenic art and faux finishing techniques. Through her work with PAINTology, she strives to build meaningful connections with clients and bring their stories to life—whether for a home, a business, or a theatrical production.
Rachel is also the proud wife of Michael Downs, owner and operator of Downsart Inc., and a mom of three energetic and opinionated kids. Outside of painting, she enjoys baking, singing, spending time with dogs, giving hugs, and getting competitive over board games.
